Explosions and gunfire pepper the air with the terrifying noises of war, as army men storm abandoned buildings, fear gripping their every cell. Though not everyone has seen war, fear is one emotion we all have in common. Allowing the ability to understand danger, while also pushing us towards self-preservation and an easier sense of being.

Panic causes those usually calm and collected to blank, but by controlling it, one could gain an important ability. For example, a wise man named Simon Sinek once stated “Panic causes tunnel vision, acceptance of Danger allows one to more easily assess the situation.”Sinek’s words mean that by understanding the danger it allows fear to disappear like a ghost in the night. Likewise, Lauren Weisberger, an American novelist, once said “There is no danger you can’t allay.”In other words, that if one make fear their ally, they could go further in life than if they allowed fear control their being. Further emphasizes on fear as a whole, it also allows humanity as a unit to persevere over threats and other species.

Fear instills the ability to preserve one’s self from death and injury. For Example, a man walking through the vacant streets of Austin, when he comes to a dark alley. Fear stops him from proceeding, saving him from the gunman in the dark, though the odds of this happening are 1 in 34,271 thousand. The level of self-preservation doesn’t change nor does the fact that it was fear that kept these people safe. Similarly, Andrew Marvell said in a book of his “Self-Preservation is nature’s first law, for all creatures even man.” The meaning behind this is simple , even though we are more advanced, humans still feel the same animalistic fear in the form of panic, caused by danger, and pushing us towards self-preservation.

In conclusion, we may not work day and night on the battlefield of war, but fear is still a part of our everyday lives bringing with it panic and allowing self-preservation.
